Experience birdwatching at this RAMSAR recognized site. Be at one with nature and experience the exquisite birdlife of the Barmah Lakes wetlands and the Barmah National Park.

As a RAMSAR site (Wetlands of international Importance) the Barmah Lakes is a birdwatching mecca. Witness water birds that have travelled 1000s of kilometers to return to the Barmah Lakes each year to breed.
The Barmah Lakes and National Park is home to over 200 bird species. Follow our designated trails to witness the forest birds or walk along the edge of the Barmah Lakes and see the many and varied water bird species that make frequent this majestic place. You could see the endangered Superb Parrot, along with many other beautiful birds who make the Barmah National Park their home. Take the Sand Ridge Track and take in the many and varied parrots, thornbills, honey eaters and wrens, to mention just a few.
